| When a daughter is born,
There are many reasons to mourn,
For she cannot become a stronger male,
Not letting your precious surname prevail.
She is allowed to shed a tear,
But her upbringing is never sans fear,
For there is a fear for safety and protection,
A flower blooms from strength and affection.
Always a woman is told what not to do,
To suffer in silence and never argue,
For a patriarchal society, she lives in,
She needs to battle a war within.
It’s not only the man, a woman here is the culprit,
Who teaches another lady to bear with it.
Amidst envy, she brings her down,
And drags her slow when she aims a crown.
Forced to choose between a family and a career,
Leisure time totally lost in the worldly sphere.
She desperately yearns for just one applaud,
But is always reminded that she is flawed.
Ages and ages gone by, a gender is made to suffer,
Amidst orthodoxy, her life is made tougher.
Though we say we have adapted feminism,
Every day reflects acts of male chauvinism.
It’s time we empower and let her free,
Isn’t this what women empowerment is meant to be?
She is already strong, just let the ties loose,
For this is the liberty she will never misuse.
When she is given wings to fly,
She soars higher in the sky,
And then she brings a roaring storm,
Unafraid, she challenges the norm.
Independent, she won’t long for a prince charming,
But will take control when things go alarming.
No longer will she be a damsel in distress,
Dreams and ambitions she will not suppress.
Give her the same respect for she is human,
And give her the right to be any kind of woman.
The generations will see many progressions to come,
If bold and beautiful daughters are always welcome!!
